باہمی مشاورت اور استخارہ : فوائد اور طریقہ
A 30-page practical treatise illuminating the two essential pillars of sound Islamic decision-making: mutual consultation (Mushawarat) with qualified people, and seeking divine guidance (Istikhara) from Allah. Mufti Abdul Rehman Munir dispels widespread misconceptions regarding dreams and omens, provides the authentic Sunnah Dua, and explains how to make life choices with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
Why This Book Was Written
In the author foreword (Harf-e-Aaghaz), Mufti Abdul Rehman Munir observes that human beings are inherently social and interdependent creatures. No single person, regardless of intelligence or expertise, possesses complete knowledge for every circumstance in life.
Islam beautifully equips us with two harmonious mechanisms for decision-making: Mushawarat (consulting knowledgeable, trustworthy people on earth) and Istikhara (invoking the wisdom and decree of Allah in the heavens). When both are combined, regret and confusion vanish.
The author wrote this guide to correct common misunderstandings: many Muslims mistakenly believe Istikhara requires seeing green or white colors in a dream, or rely on spiritual practitioners to perform it for them. This treatise clarifies that Istikhara is a personal Sunnah prayer and Dua designed for every individual believer.
“The Holy Prophet ﷺ taught us Istikhara in all matters just as he taught us a Surah from the Qur'an. Whoever combines sincere consultation with authentic Istikhara will never face regret in their decisions.”
Core Insights From the Book
Key insights on Islamic consultation and divine guidance explained in the book.
Two Pillars of Successful Decision-Making
Consultation with wise humans and Istikhara with the All-Knowing Creator together establish complete clarity and confidence in any life endeavor.
Openness of Mind and Tolerance in Shura
True consultation requires intellectual humility—being open to differing viewpoints and accepting sound advice without being hindered by pride.
Consulting Experts in Their Respective Fields
Islam emphasizes consulting qualified professionals in specialized areas—financial matters with economists, medical matters with doctors, and religious rulings with authentic scholars.
The Prophetic Sunnah of Consulting Juniors
The Prophet ﷺ regularly sought counsel from young companions and his noble wives, as demonstrated when he acted upon the astute advice of Umm Salamah (RA) at Hudaibiyyah.
The Reality of Istikhara vs. Dream Myths
Istikhara does not depend on seeing colored dreams or miraculous signs; rather, it is asking Allah to facilitate what is good and turn away what is harmful, followed by peaceful inclination.
Perform Istikhara for Yourself
There is no basis in the Sunnah for hiring or delegating others to do Istikhara on your behalf; every believer should offer the two Rak'ahs and recite the prophetic supplication personally.
Urgent Short Istikhara for Instant Choices
When immediate decisions must be made, the Prophet ﷺ taught brief supplications: "Allahumma khir li wakhtar li" (O Allah, choose for me and select the best for me).
